Carlo Collodi is the pen name of Italian author Carlo Lorenzini, creator of the beloved children s character, Pinocchio. A Tuscan who fought in Italy s wars of unification, Collodi was already a famous novelist and popular translator of French fairy tales when he began to contribute chapters in the life of a marionette to Italy s first newspaper for children, Il Giornale per i Bambini. The adventures of the disobedient puppet were an immediate success and Pinocchio s story has been translated and adapted numerous times, including the classic 1940 animated production from Walt Disney. Collodi died in 1890.

Great Italian edition from Amazon, always a nice surprise to be able to get foreign language novels domestically instead of paying outrageous shipping fees. The font is very small, that's my only critique. Good edition otherwise.

Very good but preachy

Le Avventure di Pinocchio seems to be primarily a cautionary tale about the virtues of filial obedience and a strong work ethic. Disobedient and lazy children will face perils such as robbery, slavery, and potential death, while repentant and industrious ones will eventually attain their heart's desire. Collodi writes well, and can be very imaginative, but his sermonizing gets to be heavy handed and repetitious, and is often quite annoying.

Pinocchio risulta essere uno dei libri più venduti a livello mondiale di tutta la storia della letteratura e certamente merita di esserlo.
Secondo me si può collocare fra gli pseudolibri per bambini, come il Piccolo Pricipe, che andrebbe letto e riletto più volte nelle diverse fasi della propria vita per apprezzarne i diversi aspetti.

Fra le edizioni illustrate consiglio certamente questa edizione perché contiene ben 82 disegni di Enrico Mazzanti presenti fin dalle prime edizioni storiche del libro e ormai anche nell'immaginario collettivo, come quella della copertina.

Segnalo anche l'edizione bilingue per chi rileggendo Pinocchio, vuol praticare anche un po' l'inglese, perché è con testo a fronte anche su Kindle: Le avventure di Pinocchio (Storia di un burattino) - The Adventures of Pinocchio (The Tale of a Puppet): Bilingual Edition

Many examples, but most helpful for the Interchangable Lens crowd

Out of 3 landscape photography books (others being: Digital Landscape and Nature Photography For Dummies and The Landscape Photography Field Guide), this the most useful. Mr. Worobiac covers a lot of breadth in the environments, lighting conditions, and time of day & year.

Problem is for owners of fixed lens cameras: This book is geared for DSLR users, but mirrorless camera users will definitely benefit. Tough to translate the aperture & shutter speeds to what a compact camera would use.

But even an owner of a cheap cellphone camera will benefit, since much of the book focuses on composition.

Wish list: More coverage on filters, especially polarizing. (This books does better than most.) Less emphasis on photoshoping images.

EXCELLENT ! This book has quite a bit of technical advice as it should , but the material is arranges in such a way that that the reader can truly enjoy the process without being "bogged down" if he's only a beginner . The photographs in the book are amazing and the reader is shown step by step how the photos are produced . A GREAT book for any landscape photographer's library or any photographer for that matter .

Some nuggets here. Just one example is I have been a "magic hour" advocate for shooting landscapes and Tony Worobeic supports that as the prime time for wonderful light. He also points out that limits shooting to a small part of the time available and that sometimes there simply is no choice but to shoot in harsh light. He offers some techniques he uses and I tried them today. I waited until the light was very harsh just to get the practice. I experimented with ND and graduated filters. As he predicted, it takes a lot of practice and I certainly need a lot more. In the end I believe I will get some frames I would have otherwise missed. There's a lot more from this successful photographer and I recommend the book.

The woman facing him could have been a movie star herself. She was quietly beautiful; a sweeter, gentler version of her mother's exotic, Latin looks. Warm, sun-kissed skin. A fall of mahogany hair. And huge brown eyes that at the moment were staring at him aghast.

He probably should be ashamed that he felt a jolt of satisfaction when she went white. The urge to hurt her was unsettling. "May I come in?"

She wet her lips with her tongue, a pulse throbbing visibly at the side of her neck. "Why are you here?" Her voice cracked, though she was clearly trying hard to appear unconcerned.

"I thought we could catch up…for old times' sake. Six years is a long span."

She didn't give an inch. Her hand clenched the edge of the door, and her body language shouted a resounding no. "I'm working," she said stiffly. "Now's not a good time."

He might have been amused by her futile attempt at resistance if he hadn't been so tightly wound. Her generous breasts filled out the front of a white scooped-neck top. It was almost impossible not to stare. Any healthy man between the ages of sixteen and seventy would be drawn to the lush sexuality of a body that, if anything, was more pulse-stopping than ever.

He pushed his way in, inexorably but gently. "Perhaps not for you. I happen to think it's a damn good time."

She stepped back instinctively as he moved past her into a neat, pleasantly furnished living room. Though it was warm and charming, not an item was out of place. No toys, no puzzles, no evidence of a child.

On the far wall, built-in bookcases housed a plethora of volumes ranging from popular fiction to history and art appreciation. Olivia had been a phenomenally intelligent student, an overachiever who possessed the unusual combination of creativity and solid business sense.

A single framed picture caught his eye. As he crossed the room for a closer look, he recognized the background. Olivia had written her graduate thesis about the life and work of famed children's author and illustrator Beatrix Potter. On one memorable weekend, Olivia had dragged Kieran with her to England's Lake District. After touring the house and grounds where the beloved character Peter Rabbit was born, Kieran had booked a room at a charming, romantic B and B.

Remembering the incredible, erotic days and nights he and Olivia had shared on a fluffy, down-filled mattress tightened his gut and made his sex stir. Had he ever felt that way since?

He whirled to face his betrayer. "Where is she?" he asked hoarsely. "Where's my daughter?"

An emotional story

A Touch of Persuasion by Janice Maynard continues the emotional and passionate stories of the Men Of Wolff Mountain.

Kieran Wolff could not believe his eyes when he saw a picture of his former lover with a five year old child. Kiernan didn't know Olivia Delgado was pregnant when he had to leave suddenly for a family emergency. He decides to confront Olivia to find out the truth, does he have a daughter?

Olivia Delgado fell in love with fellow student Kevin Wade six years ago. She was devastated when he left her with no word of why he disappeared. Come to find out Kevin was really Billionaire Kieran Wolff. Seeing the man she used to love on her doorstep sends Olivia into a panic.

Kieran wants to get to know his daughter Cammie and invites both mother and child to stay with his family for a few weeks. He is hoping that the time together will rekindle a passion that neither has forgotten.

Can Olivia forgive Kieran of his past behavior and forge a love of a lifetime?

The Men Of Wolff Mountain is a delightful and sexy series. With each story a bit more of their past is revealed making one eager for the next book. Kieran and Olivia both have feelings from the past to overcome and the willingness to fight for their future.

I am eager for the next book in this wonderful series.

Familiar storyline, hero's a rich bully, shallow lust-fest with no plot

Note: Stand alone read. 2nd in The Men of Wolff Mountain series of seven books.

DISAPPOINTING. Nicely written, good vocabulary, standard hidden-child storyline, engaging secondary cast, strong family theme, and a hot, lust-a-thon. HOWEVER, more sex than storyline, the hero is a deceitful tyrant, the heroine is wishy-washy and it isn't believable that she jumps into bed the first night, with the hero who is threatening her. The story has potential to be a sweet journey of discovery between a father and his newly discovered daughter and a second chance at love, but instead there is little story. These issues detract badly from the storyline.

THE STORY revolves around millionaire gypsy, Kevin Wade (aka. Kieran Wolff), children's illustrator, Olivia Delgado, and her five-year-old daughter, Cammie. Years earlier, Olivia met Kevin as graduate students and they embarked on a hot heavy love affair. Just before graduation, he writes her an eight word note saying "sorry" and leaves. When she discovers she is pregnant, "Kevin Wade" is nowhere to be found.

As the story unfolds six years later, Kieran discovers the existence of Cammie, is angry. and demands access to his daughter, threatening to use his millions to take Cammie away from Olivia. Olivia agrees to come to Wolff Mountain for a weekend while Kieran try to turn the visit into a prison sentence for the summer. That's the plot. The rest is sex, sex, and more sex.

OVERALL, mostly a lust-a-thon with a few plot points thrown in. The MEN OF WOLFF MOUNTAIN starts with Into His Private Domain and ends with A Wolff at Heart.

Try the complex characters and storytelling of N. Bruhns, A. Stuart, and E. Palfrey. For sweet, funny, heart touching romances with great descriptive imagery, try Susan Fox or Cara Colter.

This is another one of the men of Wolff Mountain collection and it is hot. the characters are lively the dialog is real. I read the entire collection in 2 days. I hope that Ms. Maynard will continue to write family sagas like this.

I bought this book for my American Government college course and I was a little worried because I decided to buy this edition instead of the newest edition. This decision has not hindered me in anyway! This book is extremely well written and is designed to make studying very enjoyable. I am very glad I decided to buy this book, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in American Government. You will appreciate the educated detail, precision, and accuracy the author brings to your attention.

Nothing to do with the actual product or it's seller. The book is poorly written for students that are taking this course in high school, and includes little of what students should know about their government. There are definitely better written AP GOV books.

Awesome read!

I definitely recommend this book. I've been saved for 15 years and never took fasting serious. I would only fast during lent season. But because of the craziness going on in my life I knew the Lord spoke to me about fasting to get delivered from these demons that's trying to destroy me. This book came just on time!

My spirit already knew this was going to be a good book.... I ran out barefoot in the rain to the delivery driver to get my book. The enemy tried to stop me from getting the book - had my book shipped all the way to California and I live in Florida.... I just ordered another book, no time to play with the enemy

Once I put my hands on the book this is how I felt....

About to STOMP THE YARD.....for BREAKTHROUGH....
Stepping in like a GIANT...
Hear my steps TREMBLE the ground....
Watch the enemy SCATTER because I have ALREADY WON...
GLORY TO GOD...I WAS THE SLEEPING GIANT...now I am up... about to wreak HOLY HAVOC.....YAY GLORY....
(Looking up...saying...."hold up Jesus... I'm coming")....lol
Knowledge is Power...baby we are about to strengthen these spiritual muscles and BAAMMMMMM...

As I began to read... I was pleased. I was upset at the size... but there is so much info in this small book. I am on Chapter 10... and from 1-10 there is plenty of truth to set the captives free... to shake the enemy off... I feel empowered with this book. I know I am about to truly wreak some Holy Havoc all over the enemy in the name of Jesus... And be expecting some marvelous promises and blessings to manifest

As with most if not all of Eckhardt's books - there are scriptures to read, pray, declare and decree... I have been pretty busy. I can tell that this is a book that I will be grabbing often... actually I am sure I will be going back to read and activate each chapter one by one as Holy Spirit allows...

Don't prolong your breakthrough...GET THE BOOK!!!

♡Excellent Book For Spiritual Warfare♡

I bought this book, recently. I actually don't regret buying it. It's Greatly Written. John Eckhardt is a great author. Gives you prayers and much need information for long term warfares, as well as, short term warfares with demons, the devil.. the wicked even curses and witchcraft.. It also, helps when someone feels hopeless for hoping for too long and Great sadness for enduring for too long. Even if you don't choose to fast. It's still a very excellent book to have.♡

As a jazz enthusiast, this book was something new that went beyond all other jazz teaching books that I have come across. It has given me a new outlook on the jazz of the 1950's. Left-hand voicings, two-hand voicings, scales, tonality, modality are just some of the main ideas that this book goes through. One thing that really caught my eye, is the in depth look at the impression Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea, and Keith Jarrett use in their music. The book is a great option for those looking to expand their jazz knowledge and incorporate their own style. The book moves quickly but provides the information that is important for those of us looking to play. It comes with a very handy CD which allows to hear what it's supposed to sound like. I highly recommend this book.

An easy to use jazz primer

I bought this book along with Levine's The Jazz Piano Book and while my instructor and I work a lot from the Levine book, we've found our way back to this one, and it has helped my playing (and enthusiasm for the "work" part of learning jazz) immensely. I like how it just states the theory behind a concept and then shows you lots of different ways to do it. Some of the chords and inversions are very easy to remember and use later on in my own playing. All of a sudden, my dry, straight ahead, playing-the-notes-jazz is sounding fuller and "jazzy" and I couldn't be happier. The CD allows me to practice and work on things without my instructor and serves as a very useful companion to the book. When I get through with this one, I'm going to have a look at some of the other jazz piano guides from Hal Leonard, most definitely.

Great book--a keeper among jazz piano books.

I own dozens of jazz piano books, and some are terrible, others are great. John Valerio has written similar books for Stride and Swing Piano, and Bop Piano. I do not like the Bop Piano book as much, perhaps because I am not as much a fan of bop. This book covers Bill Evans, McCoy Tyner, Keith Jarrett, and many others. Of course, you can only get a flavor of the style of each, as it might take 100s of pages to fully explore each of and their styles, as they have developed over time.
However, I must add, that this is really a bargain at the price that is listed and is worth 30 to 40 dollars. Fortunately or unfortunately jazz learning books are based on the number of pages and not the quality. This is a five-start jazz book. And, no, I have no connection with the author whatsoever.

About the Author
Antonio De Maio is an Associate Professor at the University of Naples "Federico II". His research interest lies in the field of statistical signal processing, with emphasis on radar detection and convex optimization applied to radar signal processing. Fulvio Gini is Full Professor at the University of Pisa. His research interests include modeling and statistical analysis of radar clutter data, non-Gaussian signal detection and estimation, parameter estimation and data extraction from multichannel interferometric SAR data. Lee K. Patton is a senior research engineer at the Matrix Research & Engineering, Dayton (OH), where he conducts research in radar signal processing and waveform design.

If you design sophisticated radar systems, you need this book.

Every radar design book from Skolnik on down treats the design and analysis of radar waveforms. These days waveforms are everything, as radars have nearly exhausted to parameters of power and duty cycle in trying to achieve improvements in range, Doppler capability, resolution, and reduced false-alarm rate. So what is left to improve lies mainly in the realm of mathematics. It goes over the basics of various types of pulse coding, adds an information-theory approach, and treats multi-static and passive bi-static geometries. Then it takes an interesting tour through biological radar systems (which are surprisingly sophisticated), followed by a thorough treatment of auto radar sonar systems. Then back to sophisticated approaches to pulse compression, space-time diversity, waveform performance in target classification and tracking. Finally there is a discussion of signal-dependent clutter, and how to optimize the receiver for it. This British IET book is written by various authors, so the treatment is slightly uneven, but in general the level of treatment is high.
