Dr. Nadine Bezuk is interested in helping teachers help all children be successful in math. She teaches elementary math methods for prospective teachers and conducts professional development for inservice teachers. She’s particularly interested in the effective teaching of fractions. She has taught elementary, middle school, and high school math, along with developmental math at the college level. She is the director of the San Diego State University (SDSU) Professional Development Collaborative, associate director of the SDSU Center for Research in Mathematics and Science Education, and active in the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE), having served as President and as Executive Director. She has been the author of all 6 editions of Learning Mathematics in Elementary and Middle Schools and has published several articles in journals of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and is a regular speaker at NCTM conferences.

Good Beginning Text - Beware Links

Great introduction to teaching math complete with lessons and ties to the common core. However - the kindle edition has what looks like links to the videos they describe in the book but they DON'T work!

Too technical, look into the earlier edition, it's fabulous!

This is written in more of a peer-reviewed/dissertation format. My students were not interested in reading this edition. I went back to the earlier edition which my students were more than willing to read. Sorry! I LOVE the earlier edition and continue to use it. My students save the earlier edition as well for use in their classrooms...

Book was brand new, which was fantastic! But, when I bought it there was no evidence or sign that it was only available in Loose Leaf. I was pretty bummed about that, since I thought I was receiving a paperback book. Other than that.. great book
